Fine Art Mats

Recording True Beauty

The Fine Art Mat has been designed to make it quick and easy to mat your fine art prints. One short side of the mat is left unsealed so you can simply lift it up, position your fine art print, then peel away the tape and seal it closed. They have the same archival board back and front just like our Ultimate locking mats and a white core throughout. They are not designed to be re-usable. The Fine Art Mats are recommended for use in all Premium folio boxes when using Fine Art Prints. They can also be purchased separately in packs of 20.

About the board:

The mats have a white core throughout and are made from a professional Archival board, which conforms to the Fine Art Guild requirements for Conservation (Level 2). The core is made from alpha cellulose fibres, featuring a soft, natural, white colour that will remain white. Each board is alkaline-sized, acid-free and calcium carbonate buffered for enhanced durability and longevity. Being conservation quality, boards are lignin-free with no optical brighteners. Cover papers are colourfast, resillient and bleed-resistant. The front board is the same as the back board giving it a really top end look and feel.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

All mats are derived from wood. They are a natural product and therefore they can take on or lose moisture based on humidity and temperature.

To keep your mats in perfect condition please take note of these care instructions:

  •   Store mats in their original box

  •   Keep mats flat when stored

  •   Store in a cool, dry environment, away from direct sunlight

  •   When using mats on a reveal wall, only add them to the wall when necessary - don't leave them on the wall overnight or for extended periods of time

  •   If you have mats on display you should lay them flat each night

Using the Fine Art Mat:

  •   Always start on a flat surface – your mat should be laid flat

  •   Lift up the open end of the mat, position the print within the mat.

  •   Once you're happy with the position of your print, peal off the tape and seal the board together by pressing down gently with your fingers.

  •   You may wish to use tape or herma tabs before sealing the mat shut to ensure your print does not move. However, due to the nature of fine art paper, this is generally not necessary.

  •   We recommend you use latex gloves or similar to protect your prints from the oils in your fingers.

  •   The Fine Art Mats are NOT designed to be re-usable.
